However, it is necessary to critically evaluate such a conclusion. First of all, it should be said that, as a rule, the evolution is quite a slow process. To put it more precisely, the development of new characteristics occurs in the process of the development of species. As a generation develops one new characteristic, then this characteristic will be preserved and transmitted to the new generation, which in its turn will further improve it and develop new characteristics, and so forth. In such a way, the process of evolution implies that the changes should grew stronger from one generation to another that will definitely take a considerable period of time, even though the life of the fish is not as long as some other species. But the scientists indicate to the unexpectedly high speed of the evolution. This means that the changes occur very fast that is actually not typical for the process of evolution.
In such a situation, it is possible to argue that there are other factors that determine the current trends in the lakes leading to the decrease of the number of the large fish and the growth of the number of the small fish. In this respect, it is possible to argue, for instance, that the gradual disappearance of the large fish is the result of the human activity. In other words, fishing may provoke the decrease of the number of the large fish. In this respect, the existing regulations stimulate consistently the catching of the large fish, while the small fish, according to the existing norms and regulations, is not allowed to be caught. Consequently, it seems to be quite logical that it is human activity that provokes rapid and dramatic changes in the lakes.
However, it would be a mistake to totally deny the impact of the evolution. In stark contrast, the idea that the evolutionary changes are currently taking place in the lake is more likely to be correct, while human activities only accelerate this process and increases the speed of the disappearance of the large fish. In fact, if the principles of the evolution theory did not work, the large fish would continue to reproduce and the caught fish would simply be substituted by another large fish. However, the situation in the lakes is different that means that the evolution does take place and the small fish proves to be more survivable in the lakes.
Thus, taking into account all above mentioned, it is possible to conclude that the researches conducted by P.A. Bori and J.R. Post reveal the fact that the evolution theory does work, but nowadays, it is possible to speak about the impact of humans on their environment which leads to the disappearance of some species and survival of others. Basically, the study of the scientists shows that human activity affects and accelerates the evolutionary processes in the lakes.
