Technically, the evolution occurs with the help of natural selection, which is implies that in the process of the development only the strongest or, to put it more precisely, more adaptable species can survive through the reproduction. In this respect, it is necessary to underline the fact that, according to Darwinists, the species that cannot adapt to the changing environment have lower chances to the further reproduction and, therefore, survival. Instead, species that are more adaptable to the changing environment have larger chances for the reproduction and, therefore, they have more chances to survive as species. It is worth mentioning the fact that in the process of natural selection, the species can survive in nature basically due to the development of characteristics and features, mainly on the physiological level, that help them survive. All the other features and characteristics that prove to be inefficient or even harmful in the specific environment gradually disappear.
In such a situation, it is obvious that the species that cannot adapt to the changing environment are doomed to die out. Obviously, if the species cannot develop essential characteristics and features that help them survive in their environment they are more likely to die and their reproduction potential decreases substantially. In fact, probably one of the most important ideas of the evolution theory is the idea that useful features and characteristics acquired by species are transmitted from one generation to another. In such a way, the heredity plays the crucial role in the preservation of useful characteristics and features and, therefore, in the survivability of species.
Obviously, the development and preservation of useful characteristic and features i.e. the physiological changes that contribute to the survival of species is an evolutionary process. To put it more precisely, this is the process of accumulation and preservation of the positive changes that increase survivability from one generation to another through heredity.
In this respect, it should be said that these ideas of the evolution theory may be applied to the case of the dramatic changes that take place in the lakes studied by P.A. Bori and J.R. Post. In fact, the findings of the researchers prove the fact that the larger, bolder and more aggressive fish gradually disappears from the lake, while smaller and less bold fish tend to survive that make it possible to presuppose that the latter will more likely to survive and, in accordance with the evolution theory they will occupy the dominant position due to their ability to survive in their natural environment, while larger and more aggressive fish will disappear because its characteristics are not helpful and even harmful for the fish because they provoke the disappearance of such fish.
