It is known that more than 850 million people worldwide suffer from chronic hunger and malnutrition (Feeding America, 2011). The problem of hunger is topical all over the world, including the USA. Most Americans believe they live in the world’s wealthiest nation. However 13 % of people living in the US live in poverty. Statistical data shows that almost one in four children live in families that struggle to have food on the table. This is 16.7 million kids (Bread for the World, 2011). The most direct way to decrease hunger in the country is using national nutrition programs. Although food assistance to hungry people is fundamental, it is not enough. One of most easy and common ways to help people in need is Food Drives movement.
A food drive is an event that is arranged in order to collect food, usually canned and boxed foods to feed hungry people (WiseGeek, 2010). Such organized event is held during one day or up to three weeks. Every food donation helps in the struggle against hunger, and there is no matter how small or large it is. Every person can help his neighbor in need. (more…)
In general, the daily intake of fiber can ideally make 35 g, however, it is necessary to make adjustments in the diet. Vegetables and fruits should be eaten raw whenever possible. It is also recommended to start the day with a cup of cereals rich in fiber (a serving of cereals contain more than 5 grams of fiber) and add to it the fresh fruits thus increasing the amount of fiber by 1-2 grams.
Fiber reduces the time of food staying in the gastrointestinal tract. The longer food stays in the esophagus, the more time is required for its removal. Fiber speeds up the process and at the same time helps cleanse the body. Consumption of adequate dietary fiber normalizes intestinal activity. Prolonged deficiency of fiber and pectin in the diet contributes to the development of chronic constipation, diverticulitis, polyps and colon cancer is a risk factor for atherosclerosis, diabetes, and gallstone disease. Excessive consumption leads to a decrease in digestibility of almost all nutrients and the development of diarrhea (Klosterbuer et al., 2011).
On a whole, macronutrient intake within the recommended range is very important. If some element is lacking, the adverse effects in organs and systems are inevitable, which will certainly affect the metabolism. (more…)
After compiling and recording of our three-day diet, we will further consider the proteins, fats, carbohydrates and all the other nutrients from the standpoint of nutrition of a man leading an active life, i.e. having regular trainings. The consumption of protein, carbohydrate, and lipid should be adequate to sex, age, physical activity and goals.
For example, a young woman aiming to train a beautiful shape and get rid of excess fat should consume 1.6 to 2.2 grams of protein per kg of her own weight. Healthy diet involves the inclusion of protein in every meal, which should be at least 5-6 times a day (Blaylock, 2006). The source of protein in my diet is lean beef, chicken breasts, turkey, fish, eggs, low fat milk and dairy products, legumes, and soy. The total amount of protein consumed is about 75 grams per day, which is the norm.
As for carbohydrates, my choice is the complex carbohydrates. They digest long, and therefore do not cause immediate release of insulin. In contrast, they slowly feed the entire body with energy. My diet includes cereals, brown rice, pasta from durum wheat, whole grain bread, vegetables and beans, boiled new potatoes. (more…)

The Great Depression is the global economic crisis that began in 1929 and lasted till 1939 and the world came out of depression till 1945 (Crafts, 2010). Therefore, the 1930s are generally regarded as the period of the Great Depression. By 1933, the crisis has reached its highest point. Industrial production in the U.S. was reduced in two times. The automobile industry, which have barely made the car to be affordable for the whole population came under heavy attack.
There were the three major automobile companies which shared the market – the Chrysler, Ford Motor Company and General Motors. During the 1930s they shared the market in the following way – General Motors was number one, then the second place was taken by Chrysler and Ford Motor fell to the third place. It’s evident that Ford experienced the biggest problems during the time of the Great Depression. (more…)
Today, fossil fuels comprise an essential part of the contemporary economic development and the normal life of the contemporary society is virtually impossible without the use of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are the major source of energy, whereas energy is essential for the contemporary economy. The development of the economy is closely intertwined with the energy consumption, while the acceleration of the economic development often needs the considerable increase in the consumption of energy that means the increase of the fossil fuel consumption. However, the high level of fossil fuel consumption raises a number of environmental and economic problems because fossil fuel is the major source of energy but fossil fuels are scarce resources that raises the problem of their substitution by renewable sources of energy to maintain existing standards of living and stable economic development of the world.
In actuality, the consumption of fossil fuels grows steadily because the demand for energy increases proportionally to the economic and technological development of the modern world. The increased human use of fossil fuels increases the consumption of fossil fuels. (more…)
According to Shojai (1995), increased competition for resources has put forward the energy problem to the forefront for many developed economies, dependent on oil and gas imports. They unilaterally seek to reduce dependence on other countries, especially with unstable political regimes. Such fears can not be considered unreasonable in relation to such countries as Iraq, Nigeria or Venezuela.
The third challenge is connected with liquidity risk, because liquidity risk is the probability of losses caused by the inability to release without loss of invested funds in the required amount within the required time. Thinking about activity of various banks in this context, we can emphasize that liquidity risk is also the risk due to the fact that the bank is may be insufficient liquid or too liquid. On the one hand, the risk of lack of liquidity – is a risk that the bank fails to meet its obligations, or it would require selling the individual assets of the bank at a disadvantage. On the other hand, the risk of excess liquidity is a risk of loss of income of the bank because of an excess of liquid assets, but little or no income assets; and as a consequence, excessive financing of low-income assets at the expense of borrowed resources will bring many problems to the bank.
