Buy essay: Evolutionary Paper
The theory of evolution developed by Charles Darwin produced a profound impact on the development of the contemporary science and society. In actuality, it is even possible to speak about the scientific revolution caused by the theory of evolution and ideas developed by Charles Darwin because they have changed dramatically traditional views and beliefs of people. In this respect, it is important to underline that the theory of evolution has changed views and beliefs not only scientists but also many ordinary people, though the acceptance of Darwin’s ideas and theories encountered a strong opposition from the conservative part of the scientific world and society. Nevertheless, in the course of time, Darwinist views and ideas became dominant and nowadays it is possible to speak that there are few alternatives to the evolution theory and the idea of natural selection, which is an essential part of this theory.
However, the acceptance of Darwin’s theories by the majority of scientists did not put an end to criticism of his ideas. In stark contrast, there are still a lot of criticism and skepticism in relation to the evolution theory and principal ideas of Charles Darwin. Many people and scientists still cannot accept the idea of the natural process of the development of life on the Earth and, instead, prefer to develop various alternative theories, which, as a rule, prove to be inconsistent. At the same time, supporters of Darwin’s ideas of the evolution and natural selection get new evidences of the righteousness of the evolution theory.
In this respect, it is possible to refer to the recent findings of scientists, Peter A. Biro and John R. Post, who studied the changes that took place in two lakes in Canada, where the fishing rules limited the catching of fish that led to significant and unexpectedly fast changes in the species of fish living in the lakes. In fact, these findings may be viewed as empirical evidences of the righteousness of the evolution theory and natural selection.
First of all, in order to understand the extent to which the theory of evolution and natural selection may be applied to the findings of P.A. Biro and J.R. Post, it is necessary to briefly dwell upon the essence of their finding. Basically, the findings are really unexpected because the scientists have noticed very fast changes in the wildlife of the lakes they studied. The researchers have found a strong link between the existing fishing practices in the lakes and the dramatic changes that take place in the lakes. To put it more precisely, they have revealed the fact that larger and more aggressive fish tends to disappear, while smaller and less bold fish tends to increase in number. The scientists believe that potentially the trend may lead to the total disappearance of larger fish if the situation remains unchanged. It is necessary to underline the fact that the scientists stand on the ground that the fishing rules have provoked a dramatic changes in the evolutionary process of the fish living in the lake where the studies took place.
